This trendy spot on St. Paul in Old Montreal will make anyone happy. Housed in a building that’s over one hundred years old, Mechant Boeuf has loads of charm and a great combination of old meets new. Mechant Boeuf has great atmosphere with lots of red tones that evoke warmth and passion. It’s also a very lively place. Either a DJ or live band helps set the mood and the Habs game might be on the TV while you’re there. Lots of people head over after work for 5 à 7 and stick around for dinner which usually leads to a late night (at least in my case).
If you’re looking for a group reservation in Old Montreal, you might want to look here. If you’re heading over between Thursday and Saturday, make sure you have a reservation as it’s usually packed!
Let’s get to the food. For the seafood lovers, they’ve got a raw bar that includes ceviche, octopus salad, and of course, oysters. For everyone else, they’ve got tartar (salmon, bison, beef – try the trio), AAA angus steaks, gourmet burgers, and pulled pork poutine, among other delicious meals. Their Filet Mignon is very good, tender and juicy! If your in the mood for a burger, try out the Mechant Burger. For those who like to drink, try the local brews (Gaspar Lager and MTL premium lager), the Tennessee Tea, Cucumber Gin, and their Caesar. They also have a late night menu for the night owls (after 11PM), a DJ, and live music on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. As Mechant Boeuf is part of the Hotel Nelligan, you can use their valet service to avoid looking for parking (about $15-$20). Best time to go is for dinner, late night bite/drink, and they also have great deals and an awesome vibe for their 5 à 7 Monday to Friday. You definitely don’t want to skip out on this one, round up the troops and head over to Mechant Boeuf!
